Acqua Recovery

We help transform lives by creating a sanctuary for hope, healing, and recovery.

At Acqua Recovery, we believe in creating an emotionally safe environment where clients have the opportunity, space, and support to transform their lives. Acqua provides the fertile ground where clients can practice applying new coping skills, utilizing essential tools, and incorporating lessons learned to build healthy, fulfilling lives in recovery.

Multi-Modality Approach

Acqua employs a variety of therapeutic and recovery modalities to help clients discover the approaches that resonate with them and support their individual paths toward sustainable recovery.

On the clinical side, we utilize Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), experiential therapy, psychodrama, and other evidence-based and experiential approaches to address trauma, mental health challenges, and substance use disorders.

To support the addiction recovery process, we introduce clients to a variety of recovery pathways, including Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Recovery Dharma, and SMART Recovery.

We believe in providing clients with a wide range of options so they can identify the modalities, tools, and approaches that best support their individual needs. This flexibility allows us to develop personalized treatment and recovery plans rather than expecting every client to fit into a one-size-fits-all model.

Our Treatment Approach

Holistic Approach

Our focus is on the whole person, not simply an isolated wound, symptom, or struggle. Substance use disorders and mental health challenges often affect multiple aspects of a person's life and well-being.

While sobriety involves abstaining from substances, we believe lasting recovery extends far beyond abstinence alone. When treatment focuses solely on substance use or problematic behaviors, it may address the symptoms without fully exploring the underlying causes.

At Acqua, we emphasize recovery through the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being of each client. By addressing these interconnected aspects of health, we help individuals work toward meaningful, lasting change and healing at the source of their pain and challenges.

We also recognize that family members and support systems play an essential role in both the healing process and long-term recovery.

To encourage their involvement, Acqua offers a weekly Family Coaching group. During these sessions, family members and other supportive individuals learn therapeutic principles from one of our clinicians and participate in an open forum where they can discuss challenges, ask questions, and connect with others who have loved ones in treatment.

Additionally, we offer regular Family Days and visitation opportunities that allow clients' support systems to participate in the recovery process. These experiences encourage family members and loved ones to engage in their own personal growth and healing while supporting the individual receiving treatment.

Our Clinical Outcomes

Culture of Curiosity

One of the foundational principles of our treatment philosophy is curiosity.

We believe that exploring the "why" beneath substance use and maladaptive behaviors is essential to a client's healing and personal growth.

Our approach recognizes that behaviors often serve an underlying purpose, such as meeting an unmet need or responding to emotional pain. By seeking to understand these underlying motivations, we can better identify the needs and experiences driving a client's behavior.

A culture of curiosity encourages us to ask thoughtful questions and explore the root causes of behaviors rather than simply reacting to what is presented on the surface.

Curiosity fosters connection, compassion, and understanding. Most importantly, it helps clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood.

When clients begin to understand the "why" behind their behaviors and substance use, they become better equipped to discover the "how" of moving forward. This awareness empowers them to meet their needs, pursue their goals, and navigate life's challenges in healthier, more constructive ways.

Buffalo Movement

At Acqua Recovery, we believe the health of our program begins from within.

The healthier and more connected we are as employees, the better equipped we are to support one another and the clients we serve. By prioritizing our own growth and well-being, we can show up as the most compassionate, effective, and supportive versions of ourselves.

The buffalo has become both our mascot and a powerful symbol of the mindset we strive to cultivate among our employees and clients.

The buffalo is often associated with the metaphor of turning toward an approaching storm rather than running away from it. This imagery represents the courage to face challenges directly, even when doing so is difficult or uncomfortable.

As an organization, we embrace this philosophy by confronting internal challenges, supporting employee well-being, and continually seeking opportunities for growth and improvement.

By modeling this approach within our team and organizational culture, we hope to inspire our clients to do the same.

Just as the buffalo faces the storm, we encourage our clients to confront their own personal challenges with courage, resilience, and a willingness to grow.

Rather than running from life's storms, we learn to face them head-on.

Meet our Team

Recreation and Physical Environment

Acqua Recovery is situated on 11 acres in Utah's beautiful Wasatch Back region of the Rocky Mountains.

Our peaceful, natural setting features wooded areas, flowing water, a river, a waterfall, and expansive outdoor spaces that provide an ideal environment for reflection, healing, and recovery.

Clients have opportunities to explore the property, meditate, fish, exercise, and enjoy the restorative benefits of nature throughout their treatment experience.

The surrounding area also offers an abundance of recreational opportunities, including skiing, hiking, swimming, boating, fishing, and exploring Utah's remarkable natural landscapes.

As part of our treatment program, clients participate in off-site recreational activities twice a week. These outings allow individuals to rediscover enjoyment, connection, and adventure while engaging in healthy, substance-free experiences.

Beyond providing opportunities for recreation, these activities create meaningful experiences that encourage personal growth, resilience, teamwork, and the practical application of therapeutic skills and concepts.

We believe that learning to experience joy, overcome challenges, and build meaningful connections in recovery is an essential part of creating a healthy and fulfilling life.
